“Who am I?” is a question I have spent the past 4 decades trying to answer. This is some of what I know so far.
I AM A GIRL WHO (in no particular order)….
~comes from a long line of strong women, including Mary Wood, the only chick on the ship from Ireland with the courage to climb the mast in order to hang the wash (the “determination” gene stuck, but the “heights-are-no-big-thing” gene mutated).
~desires to love the Lord my God with all my heart, with all my soul, with all my mind, and with all my strength and seeks to please Him in every moment of my life (sounds simple, right?……it’s not!).
~has a smile in her heart when she hears the sound of a squeaky screen door.
~always thought my value was linked to Position and Paychecks, but when “P” is flushed down the toilet (punn intended), that’s when you begin to discover who you truly are.
~cherishes and adores her family!!! If I explained how awesome they are, you would probably write me off thinking I’m not being real. So I’ll leave it at that.
~will drive miles for Abbott’s Custard!

Hello Deb,
These blogs are great! Thanks for sharing your life and wisdom – I look forward to hear more.
I hope to see you this weekend at Mikayla’s Dedication! I had hoped for this joyous celebration and stopped short of speaking it at the shower. Praise God for His blessings we will come together again celebrating with her.
I hope to see you then.
Continued Blessings,
Lora

I love Abbott’s Custard!! Especially with Almonds. I found an Abbott’s in Victor on the way to exit 45. I also love this blog the many insights. Thanks for always being sensitive to His spirit and sharing His ways. Love Gail

Hey Deb I too am a Deb Keener I married a Mashburn. I am 48 and live in Tenneessee and would love to know more about you and your family
Hi Deb…I was amazed when I read your comment. Where in Tennessee are you from? My husband grew up there and his family is still there. Small world….
Hi Deb, Enjoyed everything at water aerobics today, July 3, 2008. Like your blog, it sounds like YOU. Sounds like a song from “King and I”. Hmm, 14 days from now!.
With a splash for April Showers, Rudy
Enjoy your July 4th. Deck picnic here.
Nice ceremony at ball game last night. Rockets red glare shot in the air, Helicopters overfly at precise end of national anthem .
17+7 = 24.
About Me, some reflections on your post: P&Ps you noted come from needs of earlier years to mature, survive. Keeping them longer than needed is the weakness.

Hi Deb
This is Deb Mashburn from Tennessee. I live in Lenoir City Tenn. But my grandparents are from Maryville. My father’s name is Wendell Keener. Since your husband is from Tenn. we may be kin. I work at The Rush Fitness Complex in Farragut Tenn. so if you are ever in Tenn. look me up I would love to meet another Deb Keener. The blog from Rudy was for me he thought this was my website. email me at mashburndeb@yahoo.com I would love to get to know you better. Rudy said this sounded like me so we must be alot alike
Keep up the good writing, I knew you had it. I love the screen door sound too, esp. at the ice cream shoppe at the thousand island park, like going back in time. Love your insight into you,
all true but much more. Love you.
Sheila farklee
Fran farklee too!!
I miss my Farkle family! You are very special to me! One of my favorite memories is when Fran and I used to sit up late talking about life issues and Sheila would say those famous words, “thanks for your support!” as she flung that tired bra onto Hollywood’s bed. I agree that poor bra deserved praise, but it doesn’t even compare to the praise you deserve! You have lifted me up and have been such an encouragement! “Thanks for YOUR support, my Farklee friends!”
LOVE the sound of squeaky screen doors!!! And I thought I was the only one! Ok, don’t know about Abbott’s Custard, but it sounds frozen and sweet, so I’m in!
Blessings, Stephanie
Stephanie, ask your friend from Rochester about Abbott’s. You can’t beat it! Put the squeaky screen door and the custard together….we couldn’t stand the joy!!!!
Deb, Transplanted from Rochester 2 yrs ago, stumbled on your blog…The thing about Abbott’s caught my eye…I have been all over the states and have found nothing to compare….
We lived on Lake Ontario and I used to go to the Abbott’s in Charlotte all the time..
Secret is in the amt of butter they put in the custard…
I live in Saratoga and discovered Grace North last week it was truely enjoyable….
The telecast takes a little getting used to but the music ministry is one of the best I have ever seen…Plan on going to the 9 service shortly..
Blessings Tom
Tom…what a riot. I used to go to Charlotte Beach too! I don’t think there is anything quite like Abbotts anywhere….not even gelato in Italy! Did you grow up in Rochester?
Glad you found Grace North….great people there! And I agree with you about the worship!
Welcome!
Deb

Hi Deb,
I am also a Debbie Keener and my fathers name is Wendell Keener. I think the Wendell Keener’s of the world liked the name Debra, etc.
Dear Deb -
I attended the Camp Pinnacle Women’s retreat in October, 2008. I loved your talk on “contentment!” I was blessed beyond measure! At that retreat there was a woman who has suffered from various cancers for a number of years. I was hoping to get in touch with her to get her testimony, etc. to help a friend of mine who is suffering from breast cancer and is very frightened and confused. Would you please email me her information? Thank you so much! I don’t think it’s any accident that I thought of this woman when my friend was talking to me, and as I opened my Bible today, the notes from the retreat fell out with your blog spot
Thank you for your encouragement to women! You are a blessing and I pray a blessing upon you, your family and your church! God bless!
